Intellifit Wins R&D Magazines Prestigious Editors Choice Award

I hadn't had a chance to mention it until now, but in October Intellifit was selected as the winner of the Editor's Choice Award at the 42nd Annual R&D 100 Awards, as the most promising new technology of 2004. Intellifit joins previous winners such as the ATM machine (1973 winner), fax machine, LCD (1986 winner), HDTV (1998 winner) and others, as the new technology, "most likely to change people's lives for the better". Pretty impressive indeed.

Check out the nice outline of the story and photos of the awards ceremenony (inlcuding some shots of the Flash based UI and control system that I worked on). A couple more can be found here.

Selection of the R&D 100 winners was a sophisticated process, lasting nearly a full year, and involving a panel of almost 50 independent technical experts who lent their expertise in evaluating the details of the product entries compared to other existing products and technologies. This years R&D 100 winners included representatives from North america, Europe, and Asia; from industry, government and academia; and from every aspect of where technology has demonstrated that it can improve the quality of life. Of all the 100 winners, intellifit was singled out as "the most promising new technology" of 2004. Even more information at R&D magazines site.
