Please find the source materials and items I mentioned in my session at the following URL: http://www.impossibilities.com/ff2004ny/

My session was this morning and it was packed – it was a great turnout for first thing in the morning on the first day. I think it went very well according to the response and comments I received afterwords. I had so much more content to go over, but just not enough time (my apologies to Allen Ellison for going over by about 15 minutes) I didnt get to cover half of the materials or devices I had brought with me. My session was packed – the room was full and no one was leaving which was great. We had some really good questions which was great as there were so many people it wasn’t as intimate as I had anticipated it might be. I was concerned there might be some technical difficulties with all the equipment I brought and had to hook up – there were a couple glitches – the giant plasma screen for my presentation wasn’t wanting to cooperate with the output from my Powerbook for some reason – the plasma screen looked good – but I had to work at a really low resolution – that wasnt too big a deal – just awkward – the dumbest thing though was that at some point in setting it up I had accidentally hit my numlock key (which I never use) when trying to get the screen working and of course when I went to demonstrate the infrared proximity measurement sensor system I built with MakingThings.com’s Teleo System I needed to enter in a number in a field and I didn’t notice the numlock was still on – doh! And of course in the rush to hook up all the equipment I failed to set up my wireless connection to allow the UPC barcode lookup system I built with a Symbol handheld barcode scanner and some automated webservices in Flash – the scanner worked but the the web-service wasnt connecting – other than those minor glitches everything went really well. The opportunity to speak with folks about similar projects and ideas is really te best part about these conferences. I just finished packing up all my equipment and getting it back to my room – so now I’m going to try and attend some of the other sessions. I’m really looking forward to a few session tomorrow – I’ll try and post some more updates later on about the show itself.

Any questions about the source materials – give me a shout – I hope to have them all posted up later tonight – they will be at the URL I mentioned above.

UPDATE: tried uploading the files tonight from my hotel room thanks to a rogue Linksys wireless base station somewhere near my floor of the hotel – but I got about halfway through and it dissapeared on me – my dialup is just too slow – so I’ll see if I can get a better connection tomorrow and post everything up.
